So here's a little drawing that I did of Batgirl a couple of weeks ago... the inks will follow. I have also just signed up for a booth at MegaCon in March! I'll be sharing space with my good friend and fellow artist Ransom Getty! Also in attendance will be my other brother in the gutters, Jarrett Williams! If you haven't already check out their websites, (the links are on the right) you need to! If you're going to be in the Orlando area, swing by and say "hi!"
My name is Andy Black and I've been drawing as long as I can remember. My love of art and comics finally brought me to Savannah, GA and SCAD, where I finished up my BFA in Sequential Art. I continue to work in the industry as a freelance artist.

Shadowcat
My buddy Mike Getty is starting a new blog with some other artists soon that will feature single page illustrations with a different theme each week. The first, is anything to do with the X-Men. So I did this little sketch of Shadowcat AKA Kitty Pride as a warm up. She is supposed to be "phasing" into the floor, not sure if it working or not so I might have to re-work this when I ink it. I'll make an announcement about the new blog when it is up and running..

What the hell...
The Molly's poster really got me in the mood! Halloween is my favorite holiday and what could be more fun than doing a quick 10 minute sketch of me as a zombie?! Or dare I say a zomb-me? (I apologize, I don't' really get any funnier late at night) I also tried to use my profile photo ( or at least the shirt ) from my profile on my website.
OK. I'm done for the night... I think...
Molly's Halloween Poster
Here's a little poster that I came up with for Halloween at Molly's (the bar that I work at). I ran a little short on time (due to my own procrastination) but over all I'm pretty happy with what I came up with... Oh and I also decided to throw myself in there as a zombie... and yes, that IS a bottle of Jack my severed arm is holding.

Sketches
So I just got my very first professional job! It's for a Devil's Due book, but I have no idea when it's coming out...trust me, I'll post it when I know. I'm going to wait to post the artwork for a while, or at least until I know more, but until then, here are some sketches that I knocked out on the plane back to Iowa City for my sister's wedding!

Tony Moore Sketch
HEROES CON 2007!
So finally I'm getting to my blog a week after Heroes Con, due to some questionable chicken. First off Let me give a huge thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth for your kind words and for those of you who wanted sketches! (Thanks for getting me the Cap sketch Patrick! And if anyone else has scans send them my way!) I had an absolute blast! I met some great people (Dan, Carolina, JT, Kara, Tony Moore, Michael and the Ladd Clan) and saw some amazing artwork! All in all it was a great experience and I can't wait until next year!! Thanks again to everyone who stopped by and I hope to see you all again soon!!!

Barbarian Sculpt
So things have been crazy lately and I haven't had a lot of time to get things done. The past couple of days I have had some time and I have gotten a lot done on this sculpt for John Larison's Conceptual Maquette class. He's not done yet but I'm really happy with him so far and I wanted to get it posted!

Now, I've never been a huge fan of Ghost Rider...I thought that he looked cool, but the story never seemed all that great to me. With what I've seen of the new Ghost Rider movie (which I don't think that I'll go and see) it seems to hold true to what I've always thought of him...that being said I decided to do a sketch and I'm pretty happy with what I came up with. I'll ink and color him at some point so check back!

Spidey sketch
My girlfriend babysits for a couple of kids and it's Sammy's (the youngest) Birthday today. My girlfriend asked me just to do a quick little sketch of Spidey for a card. I started working on it this morning and was pretty happy with it. I'll get him inked and try and drop a background in there too but I just really wanted to get 'ol webhead online!!
